Aharon Appelfeld

Aharon Appelfeld, born February 16, 1932 in Jadova, near Czernowitz (then Cernăuți in Romania) and died January 4, 2018 in Petah Tikva, Israel, is an Israeli novelist and poet. He is considered one of the most important Israeli writers of the Hebrew language of the late twentieth century. He has received numerous literary awards, including the Israel Prize in 1983 and the Foreign Medici Prize in 2004.
