The fathers of Europe
What more can be said ? These men, who seemed to be anxious about what their century had done to them, made them do what they had to build so that it would not happen again. Men who have taken their forgiveness and hope with eleven pairs of hands to build a union. Winston Churchill, Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, Johan Willem Beyen, Alcide de Gasperi, Joseph Bech, Walter Hallstein, Konrad Adenauer, Paul Henri Spaak, Sicco Mansholt, Altiero Spinelli.
These portraits are part of a series of 89 characters (and a little more) that inspired my childhood.
