Jean-Baptiste Lamarck

Jean-Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet, Chevalier de La Marck, known as Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck (1 August 1744, Bazentin – 18 December 1829, Paris) is a French naturalist. At the beginning of the 19th century, he carried out the classification of invertebrates, which include about 80% of the animals. He was also the first to propose a naturalist theory of the origin of living beings, from which he developed a theory of their appearance by natural evolution.
